deliciousness

a collection of things that make me smile

Cozy

I'm a terrible sick person. After a certain point of being at home, the novelty of not being at work has worn off*. I keep thinking that I should be doing something, which means I haven't been doing a lot of lying around.

I keep getting up to do different things and I underestimated the side effects of my medication. Dizzy and disoriented, I fell in the bathroom and hit the tub hard. I have a small gash and an incredibly sore and tender hip. Definitely not my best moment.

So I am staying horizontal. No more thinking that I should be doing something. No more getting up. I am writing from a laptop in bed.

Which is a very long-winded introduction to this lovely bedroom. That bed looks so inviting and that chandelier, phew! Maybe if I had this bed, I would have stayed put in the first place!

*Although I must say that I am never really far from work. My workaholic nature means I check my work email compulsively. I know, bad me.

This Is Where We Live

I found this awhile ago and couldn't remember where I saw it. Thankfully, it has resurfaced and now I can share with all of you.

Similar to my other post, I love the delicate paper cuts. Books come to life, I think I'm in love!

alphabet

First I had a cold, then terrible stomach pains. After self-diagnosing myself with Google (yes, I know, don't say it), I dragged myself to the walk-in clinic to find out that I have an intestinal infection which mimics appendicitis. Bleh.

I'm not a very good sick person. So I need to spend more time searching out the lovely little tidbits out there. Starting with this lovely laser cut alphabet piece. Beautiful!

Arcade Fire takes it away

This is one of my favourite Take Away shows from La Blogotheque, featuring Arcade Fire. It's nothing new, but I do like to revisit it every now and then because it makes the hair on my arm stand up.

Phone box has new life as library

I love that they've found a new use for the traditional red phone booth! I wonder what kind of shelving system they have? :)

Children's Drawings come to Life

This Korean project took children's drawings and turned them into professional shot photos. The photos don't copy the drawings exactly, but it still works brilliantly. I wonder what the children thought with the final result?

When Grown Men Cry

What do grown men look like when they cry? Photographer Sam Taylor-Wood photographed some of Hollywood's leading film actors who shed some tears. Click the link to see more photos of famous men.

"Some of the men cried before I even finished loading the camera, but others found it really difficult, said Taylor-Wood. "People can decide for themselves which they think are the authentic tears and which they think are fake. It's about the idea of taking these big, masculine men and showing a different side."

Mad paper cutting skills

My best friend sent me the link to this terrific promo for the New Zealand Book Council. As a book lover, it's no surprise that I love this but throw in the bold and creative paper cuts and I'm a goner.

Stumped

A quick break from work to show you this beautiful find: a table made from sycamores with a lightbulb. I love the combination of textures and the oversize bulb. Simply gorgeous!

I encourage you to click through to view more work of the Egg Collective. They have a lot of other projects that make me giddy.
